The hutch is a nice addition to the matching desk. The assembly of both is not for those of us who can't follow instructions my dad was kind enough to put mine together. The hutch does work on either side of the L-shaped desk, depending upon your workstation needs. Beautiful addition to the Farview Collection desk - finsishes it off. My only complaint is that the compartments with doors on either side for storage, do not have a shelf in them.

It is just one large compartment. A shelf in each would allow you to store and organize so much more in them.

Heavy for one person to lift. Really a 2 person job. Be very careful when nailing the back board to hutch. If you miss the wood it will split on the other side. That is my only dislike. The wood flakes off because it is composite. But if you fill it in with black ink you can not tell the difference. Otherwise it looks very nice and elegant on the L shaped desk! I can have all my DVDs and CDs within arms length which I'm storing behind the doors. Trim at the top shutter look doors along with the beading on the backboard were just what I wanted for my beach, nautical, cottage office here at home.

I'm very happy with this purchase! Looks great, easy to follow instructions, good quality EXCEPT for that back, it is very flimsy. I don't put weight on the back so it's not a problem, but it could be for others. Part of the finish glued to the back was peeling off, but I was able to fix it easily with some glue before installing it.
